About Dr. Boothe

William A. Boothe is a famous cornea specialist who has performed over 103,700 LASIK procedures. He has performed more VISX Custom 3-D Wavefront Customized LASIK corrections than other surgeons in the world. Dr. Boothe was awarded as the “VISX Surgeon of the Year” the laser manufacturer. His experience in IntraLASIK surgery is unparalleled and as a result he has been servicing patients from the Dallas area as well as other part of Texas, other states and even overseas patients who heard of his high level of expertise and accuracy. Boothe Eye Care and Laser Center became a premier center for vision correction in the country because of the commitment and excellence.

Dr. William Boothe was one of the first cornea specialists who has obtained training in advanced techniques of vision correction at the time of his fellowship. He was also the first cornea surgeon who was trained to use FDA approved Excimer laser in the Dallas area for correction refractive errors. In Dallas-Ft. Worth, he is one of the first three cornea surgeons who used microkeratome to create corneal flaps. The success of corneal surgery is mainly depending up on the creation of corneal flap as it is a delicate procedure, nowadays done mostly with a special laser device.

Dr. William Boothe is a certified surgeon by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He became the pioneer in the field of ophthalmology with his passion to learn advanced technologies and the love towards the medical field. Dr. Boothe is a native of Texas who obtained an undergraduate degree with honors from Rice University. He has also completed the residency at the Texas Tech University School of Ophthalmology. Before going for an internship in Internal Medicine at Presbyterian Hospital, he also attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He obtained his cornea fellowship from Jules Stein Eye Institute.

Dr. William Boothe was a physician in an emergency room before specializing in ophthalmology. He also worked as the director of both Angelo Association Emergency Center at San Angelo, Texas and Plano Emergency Center. He was the resident doctor of the Department of Ophthalmology at the Texas Tech University Health Science Center, and obtained a fellowship from Cornea External Disease Division of Jules Stein Eye Institute at University of California, Los Angeles Medical Center. His Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center is situated at Plano, Texas. In the center, he offers high quality treatments using effective techniques to improve vision since 1987, when he started his center.

When Dr. Boothe started performing LASIK surgery in early 1990s, it was a major advancement in ophthalmology. He became the first LASIK surgeon of the area who used FDA approved laser for the surgery. Dr. Boothe has since examined and adopted advanced technologies that can meet his high standards of precision, accuracy and safety. He uses the devices on patients only after making sure that match the needs and the health limitations of his patients. Dr. Boothe is a member of various professional organizations. He and his family are participating in many charities by sponsoring, donating and volunteering their time in not-for-profits organizations.
